VICTORY: Biden Administration Withdraws David Chipman Nomination to Head the ATF

On September 9, 2021, gun owners scored a major victory as the Biden administration and anti-Second Amendment Democrats in Congress were forced to withdraw the nomination of David Chipman to lead the ATF.

Chipman is a former ATF agent and zealous supporter of gun control. His nomination was met with a ton of controversy on both sides of the political aisle. Republicans obviously opposed him due to Chipman’s radical anti-gun outlook. Though moderate Senate Democrats from swing states with significant pro-gun populaces were also hesistant about nominating Chipman.

This combination of oppositional forces led to Chipman’s nomination being scuttled. Groups like the National Association for Gun Rights were ecstatic about this development.

“David Chipman’s nomination to lead the ATF was a slap in the face to gun owners across the country. Now, thanks to the pro-gun grassroots, we’ve put Chipman back where he belongs: at home without a job,” declared Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights.

Recognizing that there were several obstacles to passing gun control in Congress, the Biden administration thought it could pull a fast one by nominating Chipman to lead the ATF. In doing so, they could pass gun control via bureaucratic means while completely ignoring the legislative process.

Chipman was originally the go-to-guy for congressional gun grabbers. He has a long track record of testifying before Congress in favor of harsh civilian disarmament schemes.

Chipman’s defeat is thanks to the efforts of millions of angry gun owners who constantly put pressure on their Senators to make sure that Chipman never received the confirmation from the Senate.

“I want to personally thank the 4.5 million members of the National Association for Gun Rights and their tireless grassroots lobbying efforts. It’s the activism of honest gun owners which brought Chipman down. Today, gun owners will celebrate this victory, but we know President Biden will prop up another anti-gun pawn in the near future. But we stand ready to oppose their unconstitutional actions.” concluded Brown.

Gun owners should be proud of themselves on this occasion. Nevertheless, the fight to restore the Second Amendment is never over. The next fight should be for gun owners to make their presence felt in the 2022 midterms and elect solid pro-gun members to Congress.

Obviously, the fight has to start somewhere. The key is to never relent and continue pushing for the main objective — restoring the Second Amendment.
