Second Amendment Supporters Must Stop University Efforts to Indoctrinate the Masses Into Embracing Gun Control

As the year comes to a close, we should review some of the most bizarre developments that have taken place in American gun politics.

It’s no secret that universities are hostile towards the Second Amendment. After all, these are institutions that are thoroughly leftist in nature.

Larry Keane, the Senior Vice President for Government and Public Affairs at the National Shooting Sports Foundation, published a piece in late July highlighting how the University of Connecticut and John Hopkins University Center for Gun Violence Prevention and Policy teamed up for a collaborative project “to conduct a comprehensive survey on the harms and benefits of firearm polices for gun owners.”

Keane observed that the research was made possible from a $228,000 donation from the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research (NCGVR). It’s one of 9 grants that add up to over $1 million.

Arnold Ventures funds NCGVR. This organization was founded by billionaires John and Laura Arnold.

NSSF previously warned about Arnold Ventures in 2020 when they funded the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago to set up and gather a panel of medical professionals to lay out a list of creepy gun control proposals.

The Blueprint for a U.S. Firearms Data Infrastructure spells out the demands.

One of their more bone-chilling proposals was the implementation of a semi-annual random household survey of private firearms ownership in America.

Keane put it brilliantly that this organization wanted to take a peep at “Americans’ gun safes.” Some of the questions they wanted people to respond to in their door-to-door canvassing campaign consisted of how owners obtained their firearms, number of firearms owned, storage methods, and firearm types.

The Laura and John Arnold Foundation also donated north of $679,000 in 2020 to Democratic candidates embracing strict gun controls such as Maryland Congressman Steny Hoyer, New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, and California Congressman Ro Khanna. On top of that, the Arnold Foundation a cut a $25,000 check to Wisconsin’s Democratic Party.

Furthermore, UConn is ecstatic that professor Kerri Raissian is teaming up with John Hopkins University to study private gun ownership. Raissian “will serve as the expert on how to communicate about policy and the harms and benefits of policies in different environments.”

Gun owners would be wise to recognize that institutions of higher learning are completely against the right to bear arms. A sensible policy that pro-gunners can latch on to is the defunding of universities that go overboard with leftist indoctrination.

By reducing the power of universities dominated by leftists, the Left will be deprived of a major tool used to indoctrinate people into accepting tyrannical schemes such as gun control.
