According to a poll by Rasmussen Reports, 51% of American voters do not believe that stricter gun control measures would prevent mass public shootings.
In addition, Rasmussen discovered that “59 percent think it is not possible to completely prevent mass shootings like the one in Brooklyn.”
There were clear partisan results. For example, 65% of Democrat voters believe that the United States needs tougher gun control, while a mere 23% of Republicans agree.
In addition, 61% of Democrats believe that tougher civilian disarmament laws would have prevented attacks like the one that took place on April 12, 2022 on the New York City Subway in Brooklyn, New York. A gunman wearing a gas mask threw two smoke grenades and used a handgun to wound 10 individuals, while 19 people were hurt by smoke inhalation.
When it comes to race, more black voters than white voters back stricter gun control measures. 54% of black voters believe stricter gun control measures could prevent attacks like the Brooklyn subway shooting of April 12.
The curious thing is that New York already has significant pieces of gun control on the books. AWR Hawkins listed off (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/04/14/survey-majority-of-voters-say-stricter-gun-control-will-not-stop-shootings/) some of the gun control laws present in the Empire State:
New York already has an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, universal background checks, a red flag law, and numerous other controls. The Mike Bloomberg-affiliated group Everytown for Gun Safety ranks New York No. 3 in the nation ‘for gun law strength.
New York is an anti-Second Amendment bastion through and through. According to AZ Defenders, New York is ranked in 50th place for best states for gun owners.
It appears the past two years of record-breaking gun sales has engendered a strong sense of reluctance on the part of Americans when it comes to embracing civilian disarmament. Nevertheless, such sentiments can be fleeting. After all, there’s a media-industrial complex and education apparatus that’s dedicated 24/7 to making people hate the Second Amendment.
As long as this system of mass indoctrination exists, there’s always the risk of Americans falling for the siren song of gun control. For that reason, gun owners must become proactive in their Second Amendment advocacy and continue scoring legislative victories.
The best way to defend the Second Amendment is going on offense and rolling back gun control.
