“As the sheriff of Scotland County, I want all my citizens to know that I will not allow, cooperate or release any CCW information to the FBI, even at the threat of a federal arrest,” Whitney, declared in a July 18, 2022 letter, making a reference to concealed carry weapons permits. “Point Blank, I will go down with the ship if need be.”
The FBI was in correspondence with Fox News, in which it told the conservative outlet that its audits won’t “require access to lists such as state-approved concealed carry holders.” The FBI claimed its audit is “routine” and has been conducted before in Missouri.
“At no point would auditors require access to lists such as state-approved concealed carry holders, nor would the CJIS Division retain information beyond what is necessary to address a specific compliance concern,” the FBI remarked.The FBI added that it has “been through this routine audit multiple times, most recently in 2018.”
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who is running for governor under the Republican banner, sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray. In the letter, Schmitt demanded that the FBI Director halt all efforts to “illegally obtain information from local sheriffs on Missourians who have concealed carry permits.”
“The FBI has absolutely no business poking around in the private information of those who have obtained a concealed carry permit in Missouri,” Schmitt proclaimed. “The Second Amendment rights of Missourians will absolutely not be infringed on my watch. I will use the full power of my Office to stop the FBI, which has become relentlessly politicized and has virtually no credibility, from illegally prying around in the personal information of Missouri gun owners.”
Missouri is one of the most pro-gun states in the country. According to AZ-Defenders, Missouri is ranked in 9th place for the best states for gun owners.
In 2016, Missouri put itself on the map by passing Constitutional Carry. Since then the State has attempted to pass measures that would nullify federal gun control laws.
Missouri is showing other red states how to pragmatically resist against federal overreach. The Missouri mindset with regards to the Second Amendment is what other states should emulate. It’s one of the best ways to resist Gun Control Inc.’s agenda and can serve as a launchpad for a grassroots rebellion against the gun control regulatory state.
