Maloney’s bill is titled the Firearms Industry Fairness Act.
According to an NBC News report, this bill would “impose a 20% tax on the total revenue earned by manufacturers who produce assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.”
In a tweet that Maloney posted on August 22, 2022, she said the following:
“My Firearm Industry Fairness Act will tax assault weapons manufacturers 20% off ALL revenue and my Firearm Industry Crime and Trafficking Accountability Act will prohibit the selling of guns to retailers if selling leads to a high risk of criminal activity.”
AWR Hawkins of Breitbart News pointed out that “Maloney’s push to place additional taxes on AR-15 and ‘high capacity’ magazine manufacturers comes after the House Oversight Committee’s July 27, 2022, hearings in which they questioned the CEOs of Daniel Defense and Sturm, Ruger & Co.”
Gun manufacturers are an easy scapegoat for Gun Control Inc. By targeting gun manufacturers through punitive taxes and lawsuits, the gun control crowd is pursuing the goal of shutting down the entire firearms sector. In doing so, the anti-gunners will reduce the overall supply of legal firearms available, thereby depriving millions of law-abiding Americans of viable firearms options for self-defense.
An outright gun ban is not feasible for the civilian disarmament movement. However, other regulations on the firearms sector and the threat of lawfare can help them achieve their goal of destroying the right to bear arms. Pro-Second Amendment supporters must take this into account and be prepared to fight each and every one of these anti-freedom schemes.
