Constitutional Carry is Now on Alabama Governor Kay Ivey’s Desk

Is Alabama on the verge of becoming the 22nd state with Constitutional Carry on the books?

On March 10, 2022, House Bill 272, Alabama’s Constitutional Carry bill, was passed out of a conference committee. This committee scrapped anti-gun amendments that initially endangered the bill’s passage.

Now, HB 272 is heading to Governor Kay Ivey’s desk for her to sign the bill into law.

“This is a great day for gun owners in Alabama as their constitutional right to bear arms without government infringement will soon be restored,” declared Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “And it’s thanks in part to the tireless work of National Association for Gun Rights members in Alabama lobbying their lawmakers – demanding Alabama become the next Constitutional Carry state.”

In a press release published on March 10, NAGR noted that it worked with several elected officials such as State Representatives Shane Stringer and Andrew Sorrell to push Constitutional Carry in the Alabama state legislature.

“It’s incredible to see all the hard work of grassroots gun activists and pro-gun lawmakers come to fruition and make Constitutional Carry a reality,” declared DJ Parten, Director of Legislation for the National Association for Gun Rights in Alabama. “As a born and raised Alabamian, I am excited to see our rights restored and proud to have worked alongside law-abiding gun owners to get this bill on Gov. Ivey’s desk.”

As mentioned multiple times on this website, Constitutional Carry is the simple concept that a lawful individual should be allowed to carry a firearm openly or concealed without having to beg the government for a permit or pay a tax to do so.

Other states like Indiana and Ohio are also on the verge of passing Constitutional Carry in 2022.

Undoubtedly, Constitutional Carry is the greatest right wing success story of the past few decades. All the hard work avid Second Amendment supporters put over the past two decades is finally beginning to yield a bountiful legislative harvest. Right-wing activists involved in these causes should be proud of themselves. Their dedication has led to the expansion of Second Amendment freedoms in nearly every red state.

In time, all red states will have Constitutional Carry as law of the land. But the fight is just beginning. From there, Second Amendment activists should embrace nullification and ignore all forms of federal gun control laws and regulations.

Just like the Left never rests, the pro-Second Amendment Right should be relentless and continue finding every way to enhance pro-gun freedoms.
