AWR Hawkins of Breitbart News observed, “Bonner & Bonner is currently serving a claim, which is a precursor to actually filing suit.”
The Austin-American Statesman pointed out that the claim is being filled against the Uvalde school district and city authorities on behalf of nine families who were negatively impacted by the massacre. The aggrieved parties are alleging “negligence” and “failure to act” during the May 24, 2022 massacre that ended in the slaughter of 19 children and two teachers.
In addition, the Texas Tribune observed that the firm “intends to seek damages from the list of law enforcement agencies present at Robb during the shooting and Daniel Defense, the manufacturer of the AR-15 the shooter used that day.”
According to the Texas Tribune, Bonner & Bonner attorney Charles Bonner “hopes to reach a settlement ahead of the class-action suit, but if those parties don’t come to the negotiating table, he plans to file the federal lawsuit in September.”
The Statesman called attention to how the “claim effectively serves as a formal notification of the families’ intent to file a potential federal class-action lawsuit if a settlement isn’t reached.”
Indeed, the Uvalde police department and its political leadership should be held accountable. Their performance during this tragedy was egregiously incompent. However, if this lawsuit delves into an attack against gun manufacturers, that’s crossing the line.
That’s the thing about the Left and its activist class. Sometimes they’ll find an otherwise legitimate cause to co-opt or at least sneak anti-freedom schemes into it as a way to continue their never-ending campaign to destroy American freedoms. That's how the Left operates.
This is one case that gun owners should watch with interest. Gun Control Inc, is now pivoting to lawfare campaigns against gun manufacturers in an effort to bankrupt them. As a result of these potential bankruptcies, millions of prospective gun owners would be deprived of having access to countless firearms. This is one of many ways the gun controllers can effectively end private gun ownership in the US.
For that reason, the Second Amendment community should watch these legal cases like hawks. If we fall asleep at the wheel here, our rights will undeniably go poof.
