Meet the Oklahoma Senate Candidate Running to Abolish Gun Control

The Republican candidates for U.S. Senate in Oklahoma all claim to support the Second Amendment. But only one, State Sen. Nathan Dahm, actually has the record to back his statements.

Dahm is the reason Oklahoma passed Constitutional Carry, and a ban on red flag gun confiscation orders within his state.

And if elected to the U.S. Senate, he is taking aim at all federal gun control laws.

“Shall not be infringed. That is my position on the Second Amendment,” Dahm told Pro-Gun News.

Dahm stated that he would work to repeal the National Firearms Act (NFA) if elected the U.S. Senate. He already pushed for that in Oklahoma by sponsoring a bill to legalize all Oklahoma-made items regulated under the NFA, including fully-automatic firearms, short-barreled rifles, and suppressors.

“Any NFA item that is created in Oklahoma, stamped in Oklahoma, would be exempt from the NFA,” Dahm explained. “Similar to what they did in Texas with suppressors, but expanded to full-autos.”

He is referring to a 2021 law passed in Texas, which asserts that firearm suppressors made within the state of Texas are legal under state law.

Even while running for Senate, he is continuing to fight for the Second Amendment in his state.

“Two bills that I’m working on in the Oklahoma Senate just passed committee last week,” Dahm stated. “Kyle’s Law (named after Kyle Rittenhouse) says that if you are found not-guilty of murder for self-defense, your lawyers fees are all paid for.”

He continued: “The other one says that no public funds can be used to advocate for gun control measures or against the Second Amendment. This will prevent those paid by the state, including professors at state colleges, to work within their capacity as a state employee against pro-gun, or for anti-gun legislation.”

Gun rights organizations in the state have long celebrated Dahm for his pro-gun record. The Oklahoma Second Amendment Association (OK2A) named him freshman Senator of the year last year, and the National Association for Gun Rights stated that he “was critical in the passage of Constitutional Carry in Oklahoma.”

Dahm concluded his interview with Pro-Gun News by touching on his opponents, stating that they have never actually stood up for the Second Amendment, despite talking a big game:

“They can say what they want on the Second Amendment, but I’m the only one who has actually expanded the Second Amendment for Oklahomans.”

Pro-Gun News will continue to track his campaign, and those of other pro-gun champions.
