Los Angeles Police Department is Giving Up on Fighting Crime

It’s not an exaggeration to say that in 2021 living in a blue jurisdiction poses an increased risk for one’s life and property. One should look at what’s going down in cities like Los Angeles to truly grasp the level of insanity that’s taking root in these once illustrious cities.

Larry Keane, the Senior Vice President for Government and Public Affairs at the National Shooting Sports Foundation, published a piece that luridly depicted the city’s inability to tackle crime and maintain some semblance of public order.

For example, LA County’s District Attorney’s office announced earlier this month its decision to release a convicted murderer who only served six years of his 50-year sentence.

As Keane noted the insanity didn’t stop there. Police are informing Los Angeles residents that they’re unable to quickly respond to 911 calls and that they’re going to have to “cooperate and comply” with criminals.

We shouldn’t forget that California has some of the most stringent gun control laws in the nation. According to Guns & Ammo magazine’s Best States for Gun Owners rankings, California is ranked at a dismal 47th place.

So, California gun owners are stuck in the pickle of being unable to defend themselves while having lousy policing services to defend them against criminals.

On November 8, 2021, the Los Angeles Police Department posted a tweet informing residents that the city is getting rocked by a crime surge.

The LAPD specifically cited the increase of “follow-home” burglaries. Keane explained that “follow-home” burglaries are incidents “where a criminal watches their victim leave a store, follows them home then robs them.”

This warning is farcical, but it’s par for the course in L.A., a city whose political leadership is working to undermine law enforcement as much as possible. Last year, the L.A. City Council voted 12-2 to slash $150 million from the police budget. This move reduced the presence of law enforcement and has compelled LAPD to make pathetic statements in light of growing crime.

“Due to an increase in violent street robberies, Robbery-Homicide Division has become aware of an ongoing crime trend of follow-home robberies,” an LAPD press release published on November 8 stated “If you are being robbed, do not resist the robbery suspects; cooperate and comply with their demands. Be a good witness.”

The release featured six additional suggestions for would be victims. Basically, LAPD wants victims to coddle criminals instead of fighting back and making these miscreants pay for their anti-social behavior.

LA’s descent into chaos is largely the product of Jorge Gascón’s tenure as District Attorney, in which he has emphasized soft-on-crime policies and is notorious for releasing hardened criminals back out on the streets. We shouldn’t forget that Gascón’s campaign was bankrolled by anti-gun oligarch George Soros. Soros is a committed proponent of globalism and polices that cause social chaos.

This cocktail of lax criminal control and regulations on people’s right to bear arms is making California a dangerous place to live in. However, as Keane observed, Californians’ are taking it upon themselves to get armed in light of this social crisis:

Not every Californian is letting gun control politicians sway them from exercising Second Amendment rights. In 2019, 1.2 million Californians passed a NICS check to purchase a firearm. In 2020, that number jumped to 1.6 million, a sizeable percentage increase that matched the national trend of historic firearm sales. Already in 2021 more than 1.2 million Californians have passed a NICS check to buy a gun with two months to go before the end of the year.

It’s good to see Americans naturally arm themselves in the face of crisis. Even when the forces of despotism seem to have the upper hand, Americans always find a way to preserve their freedoms and push back against the globalist Left’s anti-freedom machinations.
